Celebrate the solstice with Dave Holodiloff Band at the 7th Annual “Enchanted Winter” Solstice Holiday Concert at Monterey United Methodist Church in Monterey, CA on Friday Dec. 20th at 7pm. Dave’s signature soulful and energetic mandolin style will be in full effect alongside an amazing band including: Santa Cruz fiddle wiz kid Elijjah McCullar, Pacific Grove pianist extraordinaire Michael Martinez, and Monterey Bay’s Steve Uccello on the upright bass.
The evening’s program will include classic Christmas carols and songs of the season featured on Dave’s “Enchanted Winter” album as well as the band’s repertoire of original music, Celtic, Latin, Balkan, folk, and Gypsy. The holiday favorites will be a stunning mix of straight to the heart and inventively re-harmonized, funked up, jazzed up, and mashed up. Enchanted Winter is a collection of Traditional holiday songs of the season sure to bring the sparkle to your next celebration. The engaging string rhythms range from upbeat Bluegrass banjo on “Joy To The World” and “Auld Lang Syne”, to scintillating Gypsy Jazz “Jingle Bells” and “Deck The Halls”, and even an acoustic funk Jazz arrangement of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” balanced with a mix of touching traditional songs like “Silent Night” and “The First Noel.” The album’s diverse and soulful sound is created by an array of string instruments including mandolin, octave mandolin, nylon string guitar, steel string guitar, banjo, and string bass. This all comes together under Dave Holodiloff’s artful arranging and expressive mandolin playing, making for a fun and exciting holiday album.
